It’s the final weekend of NFL “byes” – enjoy the time off Arizona, Kansas City, Los Angeles Chargers and Minnesota – but here’s a quick-hitter spread stat for ‘ya:

NFL teams off their bye week enter Sunday’s action at 9-15 ATS (against the spread) for a shabby .375 winning rate and we’ll remind you that Green Bay, the New York Giants, Seattle and Tennessee are the teams coming off Week 11 byes … okay?

Meanwhile, we’re gonna get you a pair of “late game” previews in just a moment here in today’s Jim Sez column but first this little reminder:

Jim Hurley and his Network of Handicappers and Bloggers have College Football, NFL Week 12, NBA and College Basketball winners all weekend long – call us toll-free at 1-800-323-4453 or go online at and just pile up the profits.

Let’s get you geared up for more NFL Week 12 action – here’s the key “late” games (as in 4:25 p.m. ET and 8:20 p.m. ET) on Sunday:

DALLAS (6-4) at NEW ENGLAND (9-1) – 4:25 p.m. ET, Fox

The word buzzing ‘round the land Saturday morning was that Patriots’ mega-star QB Tom Brady (right elbow) was “questionable” for this high-profile clash but you can expect Major Tom in there against a Cowboys team that ranks a solid seventh in the league in total defense. Gotta believe the only way the Cowboys have any real shot of an upset here as 6-point dogs is to balance this top-ranked offense (minimum 25 touches for RB Zeke Elliott no matter the score!) but, meanwhile, let’s see if Brady’s downfield throws are compromised after he was limited in late-week practice.

Spread Stats – New England is 7-3 ATS in its first 10 games this year and a hearty 31-12-2 spreadwise when playing non-AFC East opponents the past three-plus seasons. Dallas enters this game in Foxboro at 5-7-1 against the odds as an underdog the past two-plus seasons.

On Sunday Night, it’s …

GREEN BAY (8-2) at SAN FRANCISCO (9-1) – 8:20 p.m. ET, NBC

Anyone that “cashed” with the SF 49ers last week as 9.5-point betting favs against Arizona (see 36-26 win) should have considered that an early holiday gift from the gambling gods … whatta wacky play to give the Niners that final defensive TD with no time leftand we’re not exactly sure it was “kosher”!

Now, San Francisco’s defense -- one that’s allowed 26, 27 and 25 points the past three games – will get tested by Green Bay gunslinger QB Aaron Rodgers who – among other things – has thrown only two picks on the year. Consider SF has been held to 74 yards per game rushing – better believe the 49ers need TE George Kittle back in a hurry.

Spread Stats – San Francisco’s 6-4 vig-wise overall this year but did you know the 49ers are a rotten 4-12 ATS as betting favorites since the start of the 2016 season? Green Bay is 7-3 ATS overall this season after going a combined 13-18-1 spreadwise the prior two seasons.

Finally, here’s a look at NFL pointspread “streakers” as we zoom into Week 12 …

Atlanta has covered its last three games in a row

Baltimore has notched four straight spread wins heading into Monday Night’s game at the LA Rams

Denver has covered three consecutive games with a bye week squeezed in there

Detroit has lost five in a row to the Las Vegas numbers

And Tampa Bay has dropped six in a row to the vig

NOTE: Catch our Monday Night Football Preview — that’s the Baltimore Ravens at the Los Angeles Rams – and much more in the next edition of Jim Sez as we gear up for the Annual Jim Hurley Thanksgiving Turkey Shoot!
