COLLEGE HOOP TALK - THERE'S MORE MINI-TOURNEY ACTION PLUS, LAST NIGHT'S BIG WINNERS ...

IT'S WEEK 5 OF THE AAF

It's March and there's sure to be a whole lot of "Madness" straight ahead on the road to Minneapolis (see Final Four on Saturday, April 6th and National Championship Game on Monday, April 8th):
Heck, the College Basketball Conference Tournaments are just now swinging into action - there are five different leagues that are busy today with their mini-tournies on this second Friday of the month (see the Missouri Valley, West Coast, Southern, MAAC and Ohio Valley) and we know you're all awaiting the onslaught of conference tournaments next week when all the "heavy hitters" get rolling.
Here's a quickie peek at the power conferences and all the other leagues with their mini-tourney skeds beginning ...

Monday, March 11 ...
Mid-American Conference Tournament /Home teams in first round - at Cleveland, OH (Quicken Loans Arena)

Tuesday, March 12 ...
ACC Tournament - at Charlotte, NC (Spectrum Center)
Sun Belt Conference / Home teams in first round - at New Orleans, LA (Lakefront Arena)

Wednesday, March 13 ...
Atlantic-10 Conference at Brooklyn, NY (Barclays Center)
Mountain West Conference - at Las Vegas, NV (Thomas and Mack Center)
Pac-12 Tournament - at Las Vegas, NV (T-Mobile Arena)
Big 10 Tournament - at Chicago, IL (United Center)
Big East Tournament - at New York, NY (Madison Square Garden)
SEC Tournament - at Nashville, TN (Bridgestone Arena)
Conference USA Tournament - at Frisco, TX (Ford Center at the Star)
Big 12 Tournament - at Kansas City, MO (Sprint Center)
Big Sky Tournament - at Boise, ID (Century Link Arena)

Thursday, March 14 ...
American Athletic Conference Tournament - at Memphis, TN (Fedex Forum)
Big West Tournament - at Anaheim, CA (Honda Center)

Saturday, March 16 ...
Ivy League Tournament - at New Haven, CT (Payne Whitney Gym)

Here's more mini-tourney talk as we continue with two other conferences set to tip off this weekend ...

COLONIAL CONFERENCE - Sat-thru-Tues
At Charleston, SC
It was basically a wire-to-wire race to first place for the Hofstra Pride (25-6, 15-3) and their superstar scorer Justin Wright-Foreman (26.8 ppg) but the Hempstead-based bunch skidded a bit down the stretch and could be vulnerable here - especially when/if playing those Virginia-based schools.
The Favorite: Hofstra
The Dark Horse: William & Mary
Pointspread Note: Hofstra is 20-10 ATS (against the spread) while William & Mary is just 11-16-1 versus the vig

SUMMIT LEAGUE - Sat-thru-Tues
At Sioux Falls, SD
Oft-overlooked conference has a pair of top-shelf teams in #1 seed South Dakota State (24-7, 14-2) and Omaha (19-10, 13-3) but only this mini-tourney winner is gonna get an NCAA Tournament berth ... trust us! Forward Mike Daum (25.6 ppg) is Player of the Year guy for South Dakota State Jackrabbits but he may have to score 30 a game for SDSU to survive and advance.
The Favorite: South Dakota State
The Dark Horse: North Dakota State
Pointspread Note: Omaha zooms into the mini-tourney on a splendid 10-2 spread run since Jan. 16th.

Jim Hurley's Network of Handicappers and Bloggers will keep beating the Las Vegas and offshore books with more College Basketball and NBA winners plus don't forget this weekend it's Week 5 of the AAF (Alliance of American Football). So, let's cash in big all this week right here online or 1-800-323-4453. Just keep rollin' in the profits with Jim Hurley's Network!

In last night's College Basketball action ...
Nope, we have not yet given up on the idea that the Indiana Hoosiers (16-14, 7-12) could land an at-large berth in the upcoming NCAA Tournament following last night's 92-74 win at 3-point fav Illinois. The Indy kids - who could well wind up in one of those #12 seed games in Dayton in "First Four" action - shot 36-of-65 from the floor against the defenseless Illini and now a home win this weekend against weakling Rutgers and maybe one Big 10 Tourney win figures to do the trick. How does an Indiana vs. Seton Hall matchup in "First Four" action sound to you? ...

Finally, gotta give Colorado (18-11, 9-8 in Pac-12 action) a little boost towards a potential NCAA Tournament bid. The Pac-12 doubters say there's only gonna be two, maybe three, bids that'll go to this left coast league but the Buffaloes are very much alive following last night's rocking chair 93-68 win/cover versus 6-point pup UCLA. Tyler Bey's career-high tying 27 points sparked a Colorado club that also might find a spot in Dayton as part of a "First Four" game pitting #12 seeds against one another. Hmm, Colorado vs. Temple sound like fun?

THE ALLIANCE - WEEK 5 ACTION

The marquee matchup in the Alliance of American Football Week 5 is the first tilt on the bill - that's Orlando (4-0) at Birmingham (3-1) in that first time slot set for Saturday at 2 p.m. - and we'll be keeping an eye on an Orlando offense that has seen its per-game scoring go down with each passing week. Right now the folks in Las Vegas say Orlando is a 4.5-point betting favorite with a totals price of 34 points - will this air-tight Birmingham defense make another couple of key goal-line stands here?

The other AAF Week 5 games include ...
San Diego (- 5.5) at home versus Salt Lake (totals price is 35.5) on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET
Atlanta (- 2) at home versus Memphis (totals price is 38) on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET
Arizona (-2.5) is home versus San Antonio (totals price is 40) on Sunday at 8 p.m.

NOTE: We've got NBA and NCAA Basketball coverage all this week right here at Jim Sez - plus there's Alliance of American Football too -- so don't miss out and make sure you're rollin' up all the winners at 1-800-323-4453 or right here online.
