IT'S DOWN-THE-STRETCH TIME IN THE NFL AND WE'VE GOT TOP 5 / BOTTOM 5 PONTSPREAD TEAMS, PLUS, THERE'S LOTS MORE TO CHEW ON ...
COLLEGE BOWLMANIA ROLLS ON, PLUS, WE CHECK OUT THE BOWL POINTSPREAD STANDINGS
Here's the deal: There are only two weeks remaining now in the 2018 NFL season and less than half the 12 playoff berths have been clinched - Kansas City and the Los Angeles Chargers know they're part of the post-season party in the AFC; Chicago, New Orleans and the LA Rams have clinched their divisions in the NFC but everything else remains up for grabs although both New England in the AFC East and Dallas in the NFC East are into "magic numbers" these days and ditto for Houston (AFC South).
Still, there's plenty to be decided as well when it comes to the all-important (to us and to you!) NFL Pointspread Standings ...Here's the Top 5 and Bottom 5 as we head towards NFL Week 16 action:

Monday night's 12-9 non-cover win by the New Orleans Saints over the 6-point underdog Carolina Panthers (keyed a 4-0 Monday for us!!) wasn't an artistic success on either end - but we still want to know why Carolina QB Cam Newton is out there when it's painfully obvious he can't throw the ball a lick because of shoulder problems. Folks, it's gonna be a question that Carolina head coach is gonna pay for with his job after eight years. Heck, if you would have told us midway through the year that Rivera - who had the Panthers at 6-2 SU (straight-up) and New York Jets boss Todd Bowles (remember the Jets were once-upon-a-time 3-3 straight-up) would be gonesville at year's end we would not have believed it ...
How's this for a look at the preseason Odds to Win Super Bowl 53?
The Chicago Bears were listed at 60-1 and the Dallas Cowboys were 30-1 back in the good old summertime - and contrast that with Atlanta at 14-to-1, Jacksonville at 14-to-1 and Green Bay at 12-to-1. Hmm. It's amazing how four months later and all your buddies are saying they "should have put a bet down on the Bears or the Cowboys". Funny is they never admit they would have wagered on one of these underachievers named above. Gotta admit we thought the New York Giants at 30-to-1 to win it all - a popular pick in some parts - was never a wise play ... and we were right!

COLLEGE BOWL BONANZA
On Wednesday, it's ... FRISCO BOWL - at Frisco, TX
OHIO (8-4) vs. SAN DIEGO STATE (7-5) - 8 p.m. ET, ESPN
There's little doubt what's on center stage here in this bowl bash deep in the heart of Texas: Can the Ohio Bobcats - the nation's ninth-best rushing squad (averaging 261.9 yards per game) - pound the rock against a San Diego State defense that ranks fourth nationally in rush defense (yielding just 94.5 ypg on the ground)? The 'Cats from the Mid-American Conference are seeking back-to-back bowl wins/covers after crunching UAB 41-6 in last year's Bahamas Bowl and star QB Nathan Rourke (2,228 yards passing with 22 TDs and 7 INTs) must be the X-factor should SDSU play staunch/stingy rush defense. On the flip side, the Aztecs - who ended the regular season this year having failed to cover six of their last seven tilts - must trust that RB Juwan Washington (870 yards rushing / 10 TDs) can slice/dice an Ohio defense that's allowed 30-or-more points just once in the last eight games. Note that San Diego State is 8-1 ATS (against the spread) as underdog sides since midway of the 2015 campaign.
