THE NFL WEEK 10 UPDATE: WILL THE "HOT SIDES" KEEP ROLLIN' SUNDAY?
Nobody needs to remind us that this has been a rather wacky year spreadwise in the National Football League:
Hey, the Los Angeles Rams last weekend just suffered their first SU (straight-up) loss of the year following a glitzy 8-0 start but did you realize this NFC West squad is a rotten 1-4-1 ATS (against the spread) since late September?
On the flip side of things, teams such as Arizona and Denver - two teams that won't sniff the playoffs this season - have winning spread marks the past month of play. Right here in today's weekend edition of Jim Sez, we're gonna spend a few moments taking you 'round the league with the here-and-now "hot sides" and we'll let you know what they face here in NFL Week 10 but first this key reminder ...

In NFL Week 10, it's ...
KANSAS CITY - Surprise, surprise. The Chiefs are an electric 8-1 against the odds this year and so they've been hot-hot-hot right from the very start of this 2018 campaign. But Sunday's home game against 16.5-point underdog Arizona is a whole 'nother animal. The Chiefs - first of all - have not been a double-digit favorite since late last year when they smoked 11-point pup Miami 29-13 in the season's second-to-last regular-season game. Overall, KayCee is just 2-3 vig-wise as twin-figure betting favorites in the Andy Reid Era (started in 2013) and we went back the past 10 years and couldn't find the Chiefs anything close to a 16.5-point favorite. Keys to covering this hefty price tag: Score at least one defense/special team touchdown and keep the Cardinals under 21 points (hey, KC's only held two foes below 21 points so far this season).
NEW ENGLAND - The Patriots zoom into Sunday's road game in Tennessee riding a three-game ATS winning streak ... and did you know that New England's enjoyed three-game-or-longer pointspread winning streaks a handful of times in just the past three years alone? Heck, Bill Belichick's crew banged out a six-game ATS winning streak last year and a six-game spread winning streak to cap off the Super Bowl title season in 2016. The number's bumped up to a full TD - 7 points - for this Week 10 clash with the Titans who are operating on a short week after that 28-14 outright upset win at 4.5-point fav Dallas this past Monday Night. Keys to covering this price tag for the Pats: Don't let Tennessee QB Marcus Mariota get anything going with his legs and keep the Titans from time-chewing drives.
NEW ORLEANS - Gotta admit that this 5.5-point price at underdog Cincinnati surprises us (sure seems that the Saints are right now rated right there at the top of the NFL after beating the Rams last weekend) but the proverbial bottom line is N'Orleans has covered six in a row since that wobbly 0-2- spread start. The Saints have notched road covers at Atlanta, the New York Giants, at Baltimore and at Minnesota during this spirited six-game run and note the NFC South club has averaged 32.5 ppg in this quartet of games. If the Saints - who opened as a 4.5-point fav here - want to even feel better about themselves, then note they're 15-5-1 ATS away since the start of 2016. Keys to covering this price tag: Get a handful of sacks on Cincy QB Andy Dalton and stifle a Bengals' offense that has broken the 30-point mark just once in the past four games.
