Super Bowl week has arrived, which means it's time for THE KING OF UNDERDOGS WAYNE ALLYN ROOT to consider whether or not the Philadelphia Eagles have a chance to upset the New England Patriots this coming Sunday.
There have already been several big bets on the Eagles on the money line here in Las Vegas. One bettor in particular, a man who make a killing during the World Series, has decided that this game is already over! Maybe he's right. Or, maybe the most famous name in sports handicapping will be on the other side this weekend because too many bettors aren't recognizing New England's blowout potential.
I'll let my paying customers know who to bet and why this weekend. For now, let me outline the case for why there "could" be an upset this Sunday in Super Bowl 52.
*GREAT CONDITIONS. Nick Foles struggled badly in cold weather when he first took over for Carson Wentz. He played high school ball in Texas, and college ball in Arizona. Getting thrown to the wolves rusty with this tricky offense was too much for him to handle. But, the last time out, the weather was much nicer for the Minnesota game. And, Foles was no longer rusty! Sunday's Super Bowl will be played indoors, which is perfect for Foles. Now, that also helps Brady...don't get me wrong. But, the Eagles at least have the chance to run their offense the way they want. This won't be a case where frigid temperatures are a twelfth defender, and strong winds are a thirteenth.
*PATRIOTS' CEILING. Bill Belichick and Tom Brady are so great at running up the score during the regular season that too many people forget this team has had trouble winning big in Super Bowls. Yes, they've played in SEVEN of them in the last decade-and-a-half. But, they've only played nailbiters. New England's biggest victory margin before last year was four points. Last year they won by six, but had to go to overtime to pull that off. To this point, New England is a team that can bully overmatched opponents in the regular season and playoffs. They haven't proven they can win big vs. the best of the other conference.
*GRONKOWSKI'S HEALTH. Rob Gronkowski took a very hard hit to the head in the Jacksonville game. He hasn't yet been cleared through concussion protocol. New England is much less dynamic if Gronkowski isn't running through the secondary at full speed. The Patriots can still win without him, that's why the point spread is still well above a field goal during his "questionable" status. But, they'll have trouble getting scoreboard distance, which limits their margin for error. The Eagles don't have any injuries of this magnitude (beyond the obvious one at the quarterback position), and have a wider range of weaponry in case there is an injury to a starter in the first half.
If WAYNE ALLYN ROOT releases the Eagles this weekend, you already know why. That's the case for an upset win. But, don't jump to the conclusion that it's an auto-play. I've been on several favorites in the pro and college postseason the past few weeks. I could easily be on the Patriots for the following reasons.
*Eagles are "away from home"
*Eagles are in an obvious let down spot from a peak performance
*Eagles are more likely to be distracted by hoopla
There's no way New England is going to take its eye off the ball. They know the drill. And, they've never played a Super Bowl that didn't go down to the wire. No way overconfidence sets in. Philadelphia could easily fall prey to complacency or distractions after blowing out Minnesota last week. And, the fact that Philadelphia's postseason success came only on its home field could be hiding some weaknesses from handicappers that won't become apparent until Sunday. This isn't a home game against Case Keenum. This is a Super Bowl against Tom Brady!
Frankly, I already have my plan of attack mapped out as we all await news on Gronkowski. But, I will continue to monitor developments in the marketplace to make sure my clients and I make the most of the side, total, and props in what is annually the biggest one-day sporting event here in the sports betting capital of the world.
Between now and the weekend...BASKETBALL! We'll keep building bankroll through the week so Super Bowl Sunday is even more profitable.

I'm the only man in the sports betting industry with a star on the "Walk of Fame" here in Las Vegas. That star has been in place since before many of you were betting Super Bowls. And, I've ruled this town for decades ever since moving here from the East Coast. Even though the game is in Minnesota, this is an East Coast Super Bowl because of the fan bases. I'm right at home thanks to all my connections with both cities.
That means...in the biggest game of the year...it's time for YOU to go to W.A.R. alongside WAYNE ALLYN ROOT!
