WE GO AHEAD AND TAKE A SNEAK PEEK AT THE NBA ODDS TO WIN IT ALL NEXT YEAR… PLUS MORE NBA DRAFT NEWS/NOTES
THE BASEBALL REPORT: TUESDAY’S HERO
It’s not every day that a Major-League Baseball player gets four hits in a game - especially if he happens to play for the San Diego Padres! But Padres’ OF Matt Kemp went 4-for-6 with two RBI and a run scored in last night’s wild 10-7 at Baltimore (note San Diego cashed as + 165 dogs) as his double ignited a four-run seventh inning for a San Diego squad that now has scored 28 runs in its last four games and may be coming out of hibernation.
Kemp - now hitting .265 with 49 ribbies - has been one of the major disappointments for this National League West crew but back-to-back wins against Washington this past weekend and now the 10-run, 15-hit outing in Baltimore could have SD’s arrow pointing up.
P.S., the Pods have scored five runs in six straight games for the first time since 2011 - so excuse us for giving Kemp and this oft-forgeotten team a little love here, okay?

NBA DRAFT NEWS/NOTES
The champagne may still be flowing in the streets of Cleveland today with the big championship day parade and all but here at Jim Sez we never take a break from looking ahead …
And so without any further ado it’s the early-bird NBA Odds to Win it All for the 2016-17 season and keep in mind these are very much subject to change after free agency and the upcoming draft:
|Golden St.||+ 200||Dubs still want Durant but oddsmakers believe they’re back even without ’em|
|Cleveland||+ 225||King ain’t going nowhere and the "song remains the same" with East rather weak|
|San Antonio||+ 750||Looks like a bargain when you consider the Spurs really were the second-best team in the league till May|
|Oklahoma City||+ 850||If K.D. is gone, don’t ask but the bottom line is the Thunder will go great lengths to replace ’em|
|LA Clippers||+ 2000||Window closing quickly on PG Paul and malcontent F Griffin though latter could be a goner|
|Boston||+ 2500||The C’s could be sleeper especially if it can make a big splash on Draft Night|
|Toronto||+ 2500||Too much reliance G’s DeRozan (he’ll stay after free agency fling) and Lowry|
|Chicago||+ 3300||Bulls need some reshuffling and may even need to bust up this roster if G Rose leaves|
|Miami||+ 3300||No shock if Wade Era ends following the 2016-17 season but some folks believe there’s one last gasp here|
|Atlanta||+ 5000||Nice depth but no stars and don’t Hawks’ fans get tired of their team never quite getting over the hump?|
|Houston||+ 5000||Better off without C Howard who will go elsewhere but interested to see if new/old coach D’Antoni works|
The NBA season is officially in the books but that doesn’t mean Jim Hurley and his Network of Handicappers and Bloggers will stop the winning!
There really isn’t much to debate when it comes to the first two players that will be selected in Thursday’s NBA Draft at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn:
The Philadelphia 76ers already have informed LSU forward Ben Simmons that he will be the numero uno pick in this man’s draft - even though Simmons has done everything in his power to "force" the Sixers to select someone else here -- while the Los Angeles Lakers at #2 are all set to land Duke F Brandon Ingram.
So, anyone expecting some monster trade at the top of the draft can just … fuggedaboutit!
However, there are plenty of items making the news some 24-to-48 hours before the Draft and they include the following:
Michigan State two-guard Denzell Valentine has been falling on everyone’s mock draft after it was disclosed he has a "significant knee issue" …
There could be as many as four international players nabbed in the lottery with word that San Antonio and Miami ready/willing/able to trade up and get the likes of Israel F Dragan Bender and Turkey two-guard Furkan Korkmaz …
And two names that could jet up the draft board include Notre Dame PG Demetrius Jackson and Baylor F Taurean Prince - both of whom are projected somewhere in the 20-thru-25 area but might wind up in the top 15. Stay tuned.
