Bitter Cold For Cowboys-Bears Tonight
15-25 MPH Wind, Chill Factor Makes It Below 0

Pacers, Suns, Trail Blazers Toast Of The Town
For NBA Bettors…All Covering Above 70% Of Time

Early Money Shows On Auburn In BCS Title
Game Dropping Number From FSU -9.5 to -8.0

By Kelso Sturgeon

First things first and that means the weather for the Monday night National Football League game that finds the Dallas Cowboys (7-5) at the Chicago Bears (6-6) in a contest loaded with post-season consequences. The Cowboys come into the game tied with the Philadelphia Eagles for the top spot in the NFC East while the Bears are hanging by a thread in the NFC North.

Two words describe the game-time weather at Soldier Field tonight—bitter cold. The temperature at kickoff is predicted to be 9 degrees, with winds of 15-25 miles per hour throughout the game delivering a wind-chill factor of below zero. Some weather reports say there is a 20% chance of snow, while others say there is no chance for the white stuff.

The weather forecast is certainly behind the drop in the total, which opened at 49.5 and is now down to 48 and 47.5 in books across the world. It is of interest Chicago is the -1 favorite in the offshore books, where almost all the big bettors wager, and that in Las Vegas the Cowboys are -1, with one book offering the game as a pick’em.

I am releasing the game as a 25-unit play, with a 10-unit move on the total, and stand 8-1-1 with sides and totals over the past five weeks. Here is tonight’s complete betting menu

Pacers, Suns, Trail Blazers Getting It Done
For NBA Bettors

Bettors sometimes make life harder than it needs be because they ignore revealing data that is right before their eyes each day. For instance, the Phoenix Suns are just 11-9 straight up (SU) this season but stand 14-5-1 against the spread (ATS). The Charlotte Bobcats are an “under” team. The Bobcats are 9-11 SU, 12-7-1 ATS and in the world of totals have played 14-5 to the under, meaning 73.7% of the time their games go under the posted totals line.

There are two other revealing numbers are what are two of the best teams in the NBA. The Indiana Pacers (18-3) are 15-6-0 ATS, covering 71.43% of the time while the surprising Portland Trail Blazers (17-4) also are 15-6-0 ATS.

On the negative side, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Milwaukee Bucks have covered in just 30% of their games, and that means they fail to cover 70% of the time.

The numbers speak for themselves and certainly offer guidance to bettors.

                Pay attention.

Wiseguys Come In Early On Auburn In BCSTitle Game, Dropping FSU From -9.5 to -8.

The opening line on the BCS championship game between the Auburn Tigers and the Florida State Seminoles had the latter favorite by 9.5 and the wiseguys jumped in and grabbed it, betting on Auburn. They bet so much early money the number dropped to Florida State -8, where it has stalled.

In other opening bowl numbers that caught my interest.

In the Rose Bowl, Stanford is -3 over Michigan State.
In the Sugar Bowl, Alabama is 14.5 over Oklahoma.
In the Alamo Bowl, Oregon is -13 over Texas.
