Jim Hurley

JIM HURLEY is the founder and president of the most unusual organization in sports wagering.

Created as a small handicapping service back in 1985, Jim's NETWORK has evolved into a nationwide TASK FORCE of, handicappers, scouts, number crunchers, draftniks and former pro players who study and analyze every team and every game to develop BETTER information, make SMARTER picks and win MORE money!

In simple words, Jim's system approach to handicapping picks more winners and makes more money for their customers. And they are able to do this not because they are a one-man band, but because of the "TEAM" approach that utilizes a huge information gathering system to fine tune every selection.

But because they truly are a "Network" and cover the colleges and pros wall-to-wall, they know what's going on inside the locker rooms and dugouts. They know who's hot, who's hurt and who's ready to kick butt. NETWORK’s computer department analyzes upcoming matchups like it was the Dow Jones. They dig beneath surface factors to find out how two teams really compare. Who needs it more? Who's tapped out? Who's out for revenge? NETWORK finds those answers.

So when they run NETWORK'S number up against Vegas', we can immediately spot whether a game is off, and how much, and just cherrypick the contests that are giving us the most points

That's why JIM has racked up twentyone consecutive money making season for his customers.

Now what about YOU? Wouldn't you like to know who the big winners are going to be this week? NETWORK can tell you. Want to make money off that knowledge? Jim's NETWORK can help you there, too.

Want the best shot at the most money? There are dozens of ways to get you there, no matter what your wagering patterns or budget. So, why not get started NOW!

Richie Baccellieri

In case you don't know me, for years people in Vegas knew Richie B as a kind of linesmaker's linesmaker - a kind of numerical purist who, when every other sports book in Vegas was posting Ohio State (-7) over Texas, I was saying... "NO! It ought to be Ohio State (-8)!"

I took a position. I didn't just put up a "betting middle" where I could draw even betting action from both sides. Instead - if I really felt the Buckeyes were stronger than generally thought - I'd put up (-8) or even (-9) and dare the bettors, "Come and get me! Prove me wrong!"

Who needs Tom Brady … or even Jimmy Garoppolo, for that matter!

Folks, we told you in the other day’s Jim Sez column that nobody should be feeling sorry for the New England Patriots just ‘cause they were down to a third-string/rookie quarterback and what do you know:

The Pats’ new-kid-on-the-block QB Jacoby Brissett (103 yards passing, 48 yards rushing including a nifty 27-yard TD scamper) dusted off the Houston Texans to the tune…

September Football: Are Defenses Ahead of the Offenses?

There's a reason they play the games. Teams don't always play the way stats and power rankings suggest they are supposed to. That's often evident early in the pro and college football seasons because some teams are very different from year to year. In Week 1 of the NFL season, the money went on the Carolina Panthers in the Super Bowl rematch at Denver.

However, the offense wasn't that sharp (again) and the great defense of Denver pulled the upset behind a kid quarterbacks whose only previous NFL regular season action was taking a knee.

September is a fascinating time for handicappers…

HOW HIGH WILL THE STEELERS SOAR

A big year was anticipated for the Pittsburgh Steelers and they haven't disappointed their supporters. Pittsburgh has two wins over playoff teams from last year, starting with a 38-16 win over the Redskins as a (-2.5) road favorite. The Steelers were considered a basically even team with the Bengals and installed as a three-point home favorite last Sunday. Pittsburgh won and covered, 24-16, controlling the game throughout.

The market has reacted and a team already held in high regard is now a short 7-1 price to win the Super Bowl, trailing only New England in Vegas esteem. Just as notable is…

ARE THE TEXANS A LEGIT SUPER BOWL CONTENDER

It's amazing what a couple of home wins will do for your standing in the betting market. The Houston Texans opened the season as a 60-1 longshot to win the Super Bowl and at a decent 12-5 price to win an awful AFC South. Victories over the Chicago Bears and Kansas City Chiefs have drastically changed the betting landscape on the Texans.

Houston is now 18-1 to win the Super Bowl, trailing only New England, Pittsburgh and Denver in the AFC. The Texans are now a decisive 5-8 favorite to win the South. The wins over the Bears and Chiefs were…

STANFORD MAKES A STATEMENT

Stanford was faced with a challenging early schedule and while it's far from over, the early returns on the Cardinal are positive. They've played two games, against Kansas State and USC. Stanford has delivered a pair of double-digit wins and ATS covers, including a 27-10 win over the Trojans on ABC's prime-time telecast on Saturday.

There were good reasons to be concerned about Stanford. They were breaking in a new quarterback with Ryan Burns. The most talented part of their roster was underclassmen. If there was ever a point in the season where they'd be vulnerable, it would be early -…

THE BIG TEN EAST MUSCLES UP

After two years of dominating the Big Ten's Eastern Division, Ohio State and Michigan State were both supposed to take a step back this year and retool. Both teams had a prime-time audience on Saturday night and showed the nation that they're picking up right where they left off.

Ohio State stocked the NFL draft last spring and even though the raw talent in Urban Meyer's recruiting classes - easily the second-best in the nation behind Alabama - was undisputed, it was still supposed to take a little time to replace the likes of Ezekiel Elliot and Joey Bosa. Instead, the…

Clemson's offense was supposed to carry them to at least match the heights they reached a year ago in playing for the national championship. But the warning signs are all over the Tigers' first two games, where Clemson has won, but bettors have paid the price at the window both times.

In the season opener on September 3, Clemson was (-8) at Auburn, won 19-13 and came within a last pass into the end zone of losing outright. Last Saturday was even worse, as the Tigers struggled to a 30-24 win over Troy and came nowhere near the hefty (-35) pointspread.…

IS IT TIME TO RE-ASSESS THE 49ERS

If the lessons of NFL betting have taught anything it's that smart handicappers have to be prepared to quickly adjust their thinking off the preseason. How quickly is a matter of reasonable debate, but the tendency of teams to overperform and underperform in this parity-driven league is a matter of record. And that willingness to re-evaluate has to take us to San Francisco in the aftermath of Week 1.

The 49ers were widely considered one of the worst teams in the NFL when the season began, perhaps worse than every team outside of Cleveland. San Francisco was said to be a…

Ducks Under The Radar

The Oregon Ducks have mostly slid under the radar in the Pac-12 conversation, both in the preseason and after two weeks of play. The fact their two wins, over UC-Davis and Virginia, have been ATS losses mean that isn't going to change. But as the Ducks prepare to go to Nebraska for their first big test on September 17 (Noon ET, ABC), there are reasons to think Oregon is being underrated.

Let's start with those ATS losses. There's no excusing the defensive lapses in a 53-28 win over UC-Davis, but this past Saturday's win over Virginia was different. Oregon led this…

What’s Up With the Panthers

Everything seemed to be in place for the Carolina Panthers to make a strong statement to start the season on Thursday Night in Denver. The Panthers had a huge revenge factor in their favor after last year's Super Bowl loss to the Broncos. Carolina had a huge experience factor working for them with, Denver playing a first-year starter in Trevor Siemian at quarterback. Oddsmakers installed Carolina as a three-point favorite on the road, a number indicating that Vegas saw Carolina as nearly a touchdown better on a neutral field. And yet the Panthers blew a ten-point lead and lost outright…

If the results from Week 1 in college football are any indication, the Pac-12 South could be a very fluid race and that means moneymaking opportunities for smart bettors. The favorites gave reason for concern and set up a Week 2 where the middle of the pack is worth keeping an eye on.

UCLA & USC are the favorites in the Pac-12 South and both disappointed in non-conference tests. The Bruins lost in overtime to Texas A&M 31-24. USC was crushed by Alabama 52-6. In of themselves, neither game offers reason to seriously adjust the landscape. Both opponents - obviously…

The three favorites for the 2016 Heisman are Clemson quarterback DeShaun Watson (7-2), LSU running back Leonard Fournette (5-1) and Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey (6-1). All of these players are outstanding, but all have extraneous issues that can hinder a Heisman campaign.

Watson plays on a team with a rebuilding defense that has…

SAN DIEGO (1-1) at MINNESOTA (2-0) - 1 p.m. ET, FoxGonna get to see both QB Philip Rivers and TE Antonio Gates here for the Lightnin' Bolts after both sat it out in last Friday's 19-3 yawn-fest win against 2-point road favorite Arizona … but all eyes continue to be on second-year RB Melvin Gordon (six carries for just 18 yards last week) as he could be diff-maker…

Houston Football - College & NFL

CAN HOUSTON COUGARS WIN 10 GAMES AGAIN?

The Houston Cougars were one of the feel-good stories in college football last season. They started 10-0 and finished 13-1, capping it off with a Peach Bowl win over Florida State. Greg Ward, a terrific dual-threat quarterback is back in the fold and there's every reason to expect 2016 to bring more winning to Houston. But just how much and is there any money to be made?

Let's begin by eliminating two propositions. As nice as the Houston story might be and as attractive as 50-1 to win a national championship looks, the…

Arizona and Arizona State Football

WHY ISN'T VEGAS EXCITED ABOUT ARIZONA?

Rich Rodriguez is entering his fifth year at Arizona. He's never failed to win at least seven games and he's taken a team to both a Pac-12 Championship Game and to the Fiesta Bowl (both in 2014). He's got a quarterback both explosive and experienced in Anu Solomon and veterans at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. So why isn't Las Vegas more excited?

Arizona is a 40-1 shot to win a conference title in a year the Pac-12 has no clear frontrunner. The Over/Under for wins is only 6…

Folks, earlier this week we informed you that NFL Betting Favorites were getting crushed so far when it came to this summer's preseason games - the chalk sides entered the Week 3 tilts at a dreadful 10-20-0 ATS (against the spread) with a pair of pick 'em games tossed into the mix - and so now you ask whether that will "correct itself" here…

THE COLLEGE FOOTBALL AP TOP 25 IS OUT - AND WE HAPPILY WEIGH IN ON ALL THE TEAMS ...NFL PRESEASON REPORT: KEY NEWS/NOTES FROM THIS WEEKEND'S GAMES

So, is it a blessing or a curse to be named the #1 team in the season-opening Associated Press Top 25 poll?

Well, recent history tells us that since the 1999 season, only two teams that started the year off at #1 finished as national champions - see the 1999 Florida State Seminoles and the 2004 USC Trojans ... okay, so there's your "blessing" or "curse" answer, eh?

No shocker that the defending national champion Alabama…

Can The Chiefs Win it All

The race for the AFC title appears open to a darkhorse, what with Denver going through transition at quarterback, New England having to play four games without Tom Brady and Cincinnati still completely unproven in the postseason. The Kansas City Chiefs haven't been to a Super Bowl in 47 years, but it's worth asking - why not the Chiefs?

Kansas City made the playoffs last year and advanced to the divisional round in spite of playing without Jamaal Charles and digging a 1-5 hole to start the season. Charles is back healthy and KC was able to retain several key veterans…

As the saying goes, “abandon all hope for a better past” and in the case of the Cleveland Browns one can add the same thought for the immediate future. The Browns have had one winning season in the last 10 (10-6 in 2007), have not been to the playoffs since 2002 where as a wildcard team they lost…

Just for the sake of review, note that in NFL Preseason Week 1 games last week the home teams and road teams split the 16 overall SU (straight-up) decisions while road sides actually sported a 9-7 ATS (against the spread) mark including outright upsets by the likes of Denver, Miami, Detroit, Oakland, Seattle, Indianapolis and Houston ... hey, the only Preseason Week 1 game in which the Las Vegas pointspread "meant something" was in the 28-24 non-cover win by the Los Angeles Rams…
