NFL MOVE OF THE MONTH 30 teams start their seasons as the first full Sunday of the NFL swings into action. I've already got a game so strong that it grades out as my Game of the Month! Frankly, this caused a disagreement amongst my staff. The marketing people felt like we should wait until later in September for a Game of the Month release. The people I trade handicapping insights with were convinced that this was the game. I agreed, and my numbers showed this grading out at better than 90 percent. I'm a handicapper first and foremost and my interest is WINNING. If the numbers say its a Game of the Month, then that's what it is! There's a lot of numbers I can point to. We could start with my 13-4 record in the NFL last year on my top play of each week, a streak that strated in the season opener when Green Bay (-4) beat Chicago 21-15. It started a good year for the Packers and Wayne Allyn Root, and a bad year for the Bears, as well as those who make book for Root clients. I'm already off to another big-time start in the NFL. The film of Marshall's opener against Ohio State provided some real clues as to how this one will play out. Last Saturday I opened up the college season with a huge win in my top game, as Oklahoma State (-17) routed Washington State 65-17, a game that proved my conviction that the talent mismatch was so strong that the Cowboys could virtually name the score. I've got another play ready for Saturday. I won't promise you this one will cover the line by 31 points, but I can tell you it grades out as strong as last week's, it has the same kind of mismatches as last week, especially when measured against the spread, and it will get the money! My time of year is here and that's football season. But I haven't lost sight that baseball still has an exciting finish to the regular season ahead, in addition to the drama that is the playoffs and World Series. I've been picking winners all year in baseball and I sure don't intend to stop now!
